Music History of Bach Inventions for Piano
The music history of Bach inventions for piano consist of the two and three part inventions,also known as the Inventions and Sinfonias, BWV 772–801, are a group of thirty short keyboard compositions composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750).
All of these compositions were originally written by Bach as technical studies for his harpsichord (keyboard instrument of that musical period) students.
Both the Two and Three Part Inventions are arranged in order of progressively ascending key. They move upward by half steps from C Major, C Minor, C Sharp Major, C Sharp Minor, etc. Each group covers eight major and seven minor keys.
